Jewish community leaders respond angrily when American Jews are
accused of odual loyalty.o Unfortunately, some Jewish leaders, writers
and intellectuals seem to show greater loyalty to Israel and Jewry
than to the country of their citizenship and birth. A startling
example is the call by the owner and publisher of a Jewish community
newspaper for IsraelAs leaders to, if necessary, kill any US President
whose policies are ounfriendlyo to the Zionist state.
Andrew Adler, owner and publisher of the Atlanta Jewish Times, wrote
in a column in the issue of Jan. 13, 2012 (below), that IsraelAs
leaders should, if necessary, ogive the go-ahead for U.S.-based Mossad
agents to take out a president deemed unfriendly to Israel in order
for the current vice president to take his place, and forcefully
dictate that the United StatesA policy includes its helping the Jewish
state obliterate its enemies.o Adler specifically mentioned Iran, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, and Hezbollah in Lebanon, as
the oenemieso that every American president must help Israel destroy,
or otherwise risk death by Israeli agents.
Adler continued: oYes, you read a correctly. Order a hit on a
president in order to preserve IsraelAs existence. Think about it. If
I have thought of this Tom Clancy-type scenario, donAt you think that
this almost unfathomable idea has been discussed in IsraelAs most
inner circles? a How far would you go to save a nation comprised of
seven million lives? a You have got to believe, as I do, that all
options are on the table.o
AdlerAs murderous proposal naturally generated wide interest. The US
Secret Service, which is responsible for protecting the president,
told CNN News that it was olooking intoo AdlerAs ocontroversial
column.o Secret Service spokesman George Ogilvie told CNN: oWe are
aware of it. We are taking the appropriate investigative steps.o
(oJewish PaperAs Column Catches Secret Services Eye,o CNN, Jan. 22,
2012.) Adler apparently realized quickly that he had made a mistake in expressing his views publicly. The Jewish JTA news service quoted
Adler as saying oI very much regret it. I wish I hadnAt made reference
to it at all.o
