You should come to watch the solstice sunrise at Stonehenge.

what is your opinion about stonehenge?

    In what respect?

there is some debate it seems regarding how it was constructed.

    Aliens.

i think this might have happened with the pyramids and stonehenge.

there were alien tourists, who bought a package to dress as
humans and live among an ancient culture.

they introduced some insights into lifting large chunks of rock.

    Aliens.

C'mon, that's just retarded and crazy. You have zero legitimacy.

    Why?-a Because of zero evidence?

Mainly because I was dealing with the Attila form of atheism up to this >point. I may have to change tracks. Attila says, no God, nothing is >magical, nothing is unusual, it's a boring universe and Attila is boring >too,

No, I have said "I have yet to see any valid evidence
supporting the existence of any god."

If I said there is no god I would need to provide supporting
    evidence and I have none.

If you assert there is a god where is your supporting
    evidence?

Many things are unusual by definition, and the universe is
    anything but boring.

The Eastern Church has a concept, "Theosis", which sounds very
    monist to me.

There is something odd about this Cosmos -- we are here to see it,
and we have the consciousness to contemplate it.

I don't believe in "miracles" (sense 2)...however, sense (1) is
    alive and well:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyzWlJxDJqM

So I will offer you two "near-miracles" (sense 2), or if you
    prefer, de-facto miracles (sense 1):

    1) Consciousness, and
    2) We enjoy art, like music. \o/

And as I've travelled on my spiritual journeys -- good and bad --
I become less and less convinced of a "personal God", and more
and more convinced that consciousness is inherently part of
    the Cosmos.

Again, any evidence, per the NASA definition, of life that is not based >>> upon the element carbon?

Unlikely to happen.-a Few elements can form long chains like
carbon does, and most are not very stable.

Gemini suggests chains of alternating silicon and oxygen.-a And
some boron, sulfur or phosphorus chains are possible.-a But for

Never say never. It may well be that the definition as
outlined by NASA is too exclusive. We can't ever be sure it
is correct but time may prove it incorrect.

Who decided that NASA are the experts in charge of defining life?

Exactly. It will never be proven that no other life exists
but someday it may be proven that other life does exist.

I don't think that says it all. What about this:

If they don't find life anywhere else in our solar system, doesn't that
say something about the nature of life too? Thus, it behooves us well to search the solar system end-to-end for signs of life.

In another group here on the 'net, they are discussing space travel. It appears that the main reason scientists have hitched upon the Dune-like notion of space-folding for travel is that without this imagination,
space travel looks pretty fucking bleak. I mean it's going to take
something like in Project Hail Mary, what was it, 11 odd years to travel
    4 light years?

We have a whole system here, the solar system, yet many people seem to
be all about jumping into about imagining what about other stars. We
need to dig in our own backyard first, because it essentially takes
decades to travel to the next backyard neighboring.

I agree -- and there is also the idea of "planetary SETI" that was
somewhat accepted until the likes of Richard Hoagland trashed it
with his "face on mars" crap.
