I can't confirm whether the Donkeytitses are on speaking terms with Joey, but his imprisonment for the sexual exploitation of a minor is a matter of record.
Since folklore almost invariably proceeds from a real person or event, and since A.A.P.C.'s history only goes back 27 or 28 years, there's a strong likelihood that the bulk of its folklore is going to be pretty accurate.
Since Will Donkey never talks about Joey, very little (apart from his imprisonment) is known. The folklore maintains that Will has been estranged from Joey since his birth, presumably over the matter of child support.
While not officially married, Joey and Willow are occasionally allowed conjugal visits.
For the Donkey clan, visiting day at the prison is more like a family reunion.

Joey and Willow are "handfast," which is a Columbus excuse for sex as young as possible.
Yes, the Chief of Police in Columbus (and Plains, GA) is very familiar with the Donkeytits family and also the Ducky family. Long history of breaking the law (although there don't seem to be many laws there), being racists, and living on the dole. They grow tits, not cotton.
