The Ahmos Zu-Bolton incident has been reconstructed as accurately
from all the available sources: Will's posts, his high school
yearbook, the school magazine, and from Internet bios on Zu-bolton.
The Zu-Bolton folklore is complicated by the fact that Will Dockery's
memories don't match up with what evidence is known to exist.
Zu-Bolton was not, as Will claims, the poet-in-residence at Carver
High. He was the Visiting Writer-in-residence at the University of
Missouri. As a part of the Visiting Writer program, Zu-Bolton would
travel to various schools in the region, and sit in on one or two of
their English classes.
Apparently, Will's teacher, Dan Barfield, introduced Zu-Bolton to the
class using his University of Missouri title, and Will mistook him to
mean that he was the "Poet-in-Residence" at Carver high. As
previously, no mention of Zu-Bolton appears in the Carver yearbook of
the year he was supposedly there.
Will later expanded his story to include such tidbits as Zu-Bolton
and Barfield having served together in Vietnam, and how he (Will)
would often join the two of them on their nightly carousals of the
local bars.
Apart from Will Dockery's stories, there is no evidence to back any
of this up.
Will Donkey once claimed that he'd paid his literary dues by having
worked on his high school poetry magazine. Need one say more?

According to Donkey's poems, his life at that time was pretty much one long drug trip, so who knows how much was real.
I will say that the story's so stupid, I've no doubt that the Donkey believes it.
But what the Donkey believes and what actually happened are often two very different things.

THE AHMOS ZU-BOLTON CONTROVERSY.
Will Donkey claims that a marginally recognizable poet, Ahmos Zu-Bolton, was the "Poet-in-Residence" at his high school, sat in on many of his English classes, and was the editor of his school's literary journal, "Pegasus."
Will later expanded the story to have Zu-Bolton joining him and his English teacher, Dan Barf, in making the rounds of the local bars.
His high school yearbook, however, makes no mention of Mr. Zu-Bolton -- either as a member of the faculty (Poet-in-Residence) or as being in any way connected with the literary magazine.
At this time, Zu-Bolton ran a "Visiting Poet" service, wherein he would visit some of the regional high schools for a day or two. The confusion regarding his role appears to stem from Will Donkey's claim that he clearly remembers Dan Barf introducing him as the "Poet-in-Residence" (which he was... just not at Carver High).
Will has produced a typewritten, unsigned letter, allegedly by Zu-Bolton, which served as an "Introduction" to the school magazine (a saddle-stapled publication from which pages can be added and removed.
The "Introduction" states that Zu-Bolton had no contact with the students who wrote/edited the magazine.
