This is yet another piece of AAPC folklore that is built entirely upon fact.
George J. Dance publishes a blog (referred to in the folklore as a "blaaargh").
George's blog ("Penny's Pages") refers to his poem, "Penny's Hat," which was stolen from PJR (and his original poem, "Batty's Hat").
George Dance has often stated that he spends most of his time online working in his blog, so the comparison of the blog to Gollum and his "precious" is apt.
Just as "Penny" (the name sported by Dunce's blaaargh) stole Batty's hat, so Dunce steals poetry left and right from various online sources.
Dunce concentrates on poems that have gone into public domain, along with a handful of original pieces he solicits from A.A.P.C. members, then refuses to return.
And because he's such a thief, Dunce both suspects and accuses, everyone else of stealing as well. Thievery loves company, I suppose.
Dunce once mistakenly believed that NancyGene had borrowed a brilliant of poetry from Robert Creeley (due to a misdirected Google search). He spent $75 on the collected works of Robert Creeley just so he could prove the line had been stolen. Three month later, when the book arrived (Amazon had difficulty shipping Canuckistan), it turned out that no such Creeley poem had ever existed.
When that failed, he found some unknown amateur poetess who'd written a line with a few minor similarities (and an entirely different meaning) and swears to this day that NancyGene had stolen the line from her.
Meanwhile, Dunce has attempted to pass of obscure Leonard Cohen poems and Pink Floyd lyrics as his original work. Not since Pickles Pickering plagiarized Winnie the Pooh, has an A.A.P.C. plagiarist been so brazen about his thefts.
It's also said that Dunce is forbidden to enter the United States, although the reasons for this are never made clear, they generally have something to do with drugs.
Dunce is a known drug user, and the long-term effects from this appear to have affected his posts. Along with typical typos, he often forgets who he's addressing, and/or trails off into nothingness mid-sentence.
In the above photograph, Dunce is seen attempting to enter the United States by pretending to be a woman. Fortunately, none of the U.S. Customs and Border Security Officers were fooled.
