Don't get started on windows 11 spyware, get Linux Mint now. There
are many Linux distros but 'MINT' would be the best distro if
you're a windows user, Linux Mint is a very similar operating
system. You won't regret it and no more bloated windows spyware.

or Windows 11 with Tails, instead of Mint?

Many older computers do not meet the requirements for Win11. There are work-arounds but not anything Aunt Martha is going to try. That brings up
the question if she would be ready and willing to install Mint.

The local library is having a couple of seminars on Mint installation. I'm interested to see the turnout. I have the feeling people willing to switch
to Linux can figure out how to do it themselves but I may be wrong.

I strongly believe that people will upgrade to Windows 11, even if a lot
of them will to have buy new hardware, because many people are used to commercially licensed software, they use. And wine is no option, under
    Linux for that, me thinks.

Installing Linux, with the help of online tutorials, shoud be easy enough
for Windows users. I think the majority is using Ubuntu and not Mint.

    Dork-Day for Wallies!

I keep Windows 8, had to update a few years ago for software
compatibility reasons, and run Debian, Mint and Ubuntu in VMs.

The hardware people certainly hope so.

Ubuntu certainly is an easy install, particularly if you're going to nuke Windows, point the installer at the drive and say 'do your thing'. I'm
running Ubuntu on this box. GNOME isn't my favorite DE though. The Fedora
box has KDE which I think is much closer to the Windows experience.

I fired up a Mint Live with Cinnamon but didn't see any compelling reason
to prefer it. MATE is similar as far as I can see.

I have Xfce on the Debian box but I don't think it's as newbie friendly.
It doesn't have the animations and stuff that I dislike anyway. I don't
know how many Win10 users use the Aero derived stuff like shaking title
bars, snapping, and so forth and would miss it.

I'll keep W10 as a VM, run W11 as the host, Kali and Mint as VMs or from
    USBs. It's been working fine.

Great idea! - NOT! That way W11 can take snapshots of everything you
do and send it to psychopath Gates and your government to rummage
through. Does Tails mask the W11 second by second screen snapshots?
Does it prevent your data from being sent to MS? I don't think so.
I am running an external Opnsense firewall and so far it has tried to
send data with W10 and its many mystery services, not only to MS, but
to all kinds of other companies like Google, Amazon, etc. It
consistently tries to send out data. I have blocked over 2100 IPs thus
far. W10 (and most assuredly W11) contstantly fishes for different IPs
    to breach Opnsense.
