WhatsApp Head of Security Fired After Raising Privacy Concerns
    ---

The former Head of Security for WhatsApp, Attaullah Baig, has filed a retaliation lawsuit against Meta for firing him after he tried to improve security at WhatsApp.

Baig discovered through red-teaming that 1,500 engineers at Meta had production access to WhatsApp user data, including address books and contact information of
friends. Even as Head of Security, he was blocked from logging access to data, creating an inventory of what was stored, or mapping the infrastructure.

When he warned leadership that WhatsApp may be in violation of its FTC order, he
was met with retaliation until he was forced out. Inside WhatsApp, leadership downplayed issues and dismissed privacy concerns.

Once again, we see that user growth and profits came firstrCowhile protecting peoplerCOs privacy never seemed to matter.

Hello, yes, is hard, but you can run for example whatsup and something else signal is easy, is not the best but is good enought, works just like whatsup the way some people I know in Spain did it, is to at first run both,
then start telling people close to you that loves you like close family
tell them the implications and why you choose signal(or any other)
if they respect your feelings they do not care running 1 single app more
on their phone, then with time you will have most people you care about
and those who dont I use regular voice phone, email, sms like when I have
the air conditioner guy come the other day to repear my AC I told him
I do not have whatsup to please call me on the phone or sms, it worked
    out great...
last weekend I was on a family reunion with more than 30 people
and got most of my family in it, since they keep asking how to keep in touch. I am an digital activist so I had no problem explaining how bad
whatsup and other social networks are, and I told them, I am not asking for them to stop using whatsup, only to add signal so we can keep in touch.
Is like if someone is vegan, and you are not, there are way to acomodate people, the reason I say here "do not use whatsup" is because
most of us here we are also activists and have awareness but outside
of Usenet/Matrix/mastodon I will never ask anyone to stop using
anything I will just tell them the implications and that to please
to msg me to use signal(in my case) Also signal is getting more popular
but is not a company so is up to us to mark the path,
in case of my family some people even started to use signal more than
whatsup and between family members... this is a win, no need to force
people to quit, just let them as they speak to you see the benefits from themself ...

    lol ok I think I drink to many coffees :D :D :D

Sorry for the long article **facepalm**

I've been explaining to all my people (family, friends, etc) what using that application could lead. If Meta doesn't care about security and privacy it is because they support criminality. It is relatively easier to spread malware through phishing in those applications, as i've seen family members being targeted by the nastiest malwares through "fb messenger", through "whatsapp"; struggling to get rid of malware and spending money.

However they don't switch for the same reasons of convenience. Meta's success is not because people choose, there are hundreds of messangers in the stores.

Meta's success is based on a global exploitation, extraction and surveilliance campaign that involves major telecomunication companies, gobernments agencies and cellphone manufacturers. They simply agreed to push the meta's platforms into cellphones as a feature, together with the lies that access to whatsap and facebook are "included" in a benevolent package for free. Which is just
locked internet access to those walled gardens.

But i am seeing the adoption of alternatives is going slow but inminent, that's why they are pushing AI by force, companies are desperate.
