I've never liked d-bus. Before I knew what it was I always considered
it that "new thing" that randomly spins out of control and needs to get restarted.
I have a more neuanced view of it's value these days but if getting
privacy means using a few oldschool unix programs instead of their
modern counterparts. Fine. Good even.
From a quick look libreoffice and firefox both can work with no d-bus
