Usenet 2.0 rCo tech and hacking newsgroups reminder

This is a reminder of the most commonly used Usenet 2.0 newsgroups related to tech, hacking, security, and free/open culture.
I also participate in other newsgroups that are more generic or topic-adjacent, but they are not listed here.

Thanks for sharing the groups list.
NNTP is such a gem. It is old, stable protocol with plenty of old, stable client software. It is good to see someone still building comms around it.
Here are some older active Usenet groups:
    alt.folklore.computers (lots of digital history)
comp.os.plan9 (revived project on moderated group)
    alt.os.linux
    rec.puzzles (brain teasers, ciphers)
    alt.html
    uk.religion.christian (moderated)
    uk.railway
    misc.transport.trucking
    sci.misc
    sci.math
    sci.logic
    eternal-september.talk
    comp.lang.python
    comp.lang.lisp
    comp.lang.tcl
    comp.lang.pascal.misc
    comp.lang.xharbour
