Winds from Hurricane Milton have torn the roof off Tropicana
Field, the domed MLB stadium that has been used as a shelter
for first responders and those removing debris from Hurricane
Helene.
. . .
Nature has a sense of irony it seems, or is
it spite ?
Lots of post-disaster responders were using the
stadium as a place to live/assemble. Most came
in for Helene. NOW hurricane Milton has totally
shredded the stadiums huge fabric-dome.
Fabric domes are normally strong enough, but with
hours of pounding from 100+ MPH winds, well, no
kind of cloth can persevere. New vids show at
least three panels torn to shreds, flapping in
the breeze. Winds will remain high in the area
for a while yet - so more are likely to go.
