Time to Simplify...

I did some online and physical housecleaning, and it feels good.
Firstly, tossed all of the old N routers I had laying around. If I
replace a router, I'm going to go at least wifi6, so those were
redundant.
I did keep my last WRT54G, just because. I'm tempted to put a Raspberry
pi inside of the case...
Also gone were my non-managed desktop switches. "smart" switches are cheap enough that I can get a VLAN-aware replacement.
Donated are my 2 old Chromebooks - I dabbled with using them as low-end
Linux laptops, but had sound issues on both.
I also have a bad habit of accumulating laptop power supplies - I have
more power supplies than laptops now. Will need to sort those out.
Ditto for non-powered USB hubs - I had 5 USB 2.0 travel hubs I don't
need.
USB 2.0 HD enclosures? Gone.
VGA cards? some old 2010 cards, maybe I'll turn them into art.
My homelab sits on top of a solid wood armoire that I don't like to
move, I was able to reach behind it and clean up the cabling (and update
my switch port map). In some other cleaning, I found some leftover
wiremold and cleaned up wires running along my baseboard from the
homelab to my desktop.
I tossed a box of PATA drives going back to my old Thinkpad T4X days, as
much as I love the hardware the time for a 32 bit, 2GB, single core
laptop with a 4:3 screen are long gone. If I want that feeling, I have a
T60 somewhere with a dual-core CPU - but the feeling isn't the same.
I had an idea for a productivity brand and a web site for an LLC I set
up a couple of years back. Neither really panned out, and work is going
to be keeping me busy, so I took the web sites down, redirected the
domain to my personal domain and did a catch-all email redirection on
both of those to my primary domain. My primary web site is going to go
back to text and photos, I'd thought about having a photoblog, and a techblog/consulting site but that never caught on.
On the BBS, I took out a couple of othernets that weren't active or
duplicated the kind of traffic on other, busier networks. Next, I'm
going to cut my Fido echolist to just the areas with traffic.
Overall, it feels easier to manage now - less clutter makes it easier to
focus on things.
