    Novochok by Lettermail: Targeted Assassinations

One very effective way to kill a target would be to address a standard sealed post letter to your target with the paper inside of the note being dosed with Novochok. If it were directly addressed to the target then only they would be opening the letter. As for the cost of such an assassination it would cost less than five dollars for the letter itself and the envelope, and a small yet potent dose of the nerve agent, which might cost at most twenty dollars to have a sufficient quantity to have a certain effectiveness in the kill.

Most importantly is the question of how to prevent such poisoning, which technically would be an act of terrorism. It is the questions like this that would have possibly prevented 9/11. We don't want to consider these things because it is uncomfortable, however if countermeasures are planned on a worst-case scenario like this, it is possible that people would think up something that might prevent such a catastrophe.

First would be the problem of controlling such a poison substance, however it is not even known that The West even knows the chemical formula for Novochok. They know it exists, and they know that it is a nerve agent, but do they actually know specifically what Novochok is? This is unknown. The problem with handling such an extreme nerve agent such as Novochok is making sure that the terrorist doesn't kill themselves in the process of transferring the nerve agent from its bottle to the enclosed letter. Likewise, for some target of Novochok poisoning to avoid getting sick, what can be done to mitigate the poisoning? Does the nerve agent get less potent after time, is direct
contact required to kill or what is the proximity of effective attack of the agent...

This would be terrible if it ever got in the hands of a terrorist organization. Yet I ask you, what else would you call a country who invades another country and kills many thousands of people in war due to hard feelings? That country would be a terrorist regime. I propose that Russia is that terrorist nation. They have the technology, incentive, and ability to act according to their own will. It is not too far fetched to consider Russia, post-KGB, modern-FSB as a country that has done these kind of attacks in the past, and will do further attacks of the same kind in the future.

Is seems wise to work together with nations rather than be targeted by their assassination service in cold or hot war.

    Disturbed at these possibilities,
    -warmfuzzy
