The Anarchist Cookbook is a controversial book written by William Powell in 1971 when he was just 19 years old.

    What It Contains

The book covers instructions and information on manufacturing explosives and weapons, drug production, electronic surveillance and counter-surveillance techniques, and various tactics associated with anarchist and anti-government activities.

    Historical Context and Controversy

Origins: Powell wrote it during the Vietnam War era, influenced by his opposition to the war and interest in anarchist philosophy. He later expressed regret about the book.

Safety Concerns: The book has been widely criticized for containing dangerous, potentially lethal instructions, being written by someone with limited technical expertise at the time, and potentially causing harm to inexperienced readers attempting the procedures.

Legal Status: The book remains in print in many jurisdictions, though some countries have restricted or banned it. Powell himself disavowed the work in later years and attempted to have it withdrawn from circulation.

    Important Note

I can discuss the book's history, cultural impact, and the debates surrounding it, but I won't provide any instructions or detailed information about creating dangerous materials. The content poses genuine safety risks, and many of the procedures described have been criticized as unreliable or extremely hazardous.

    Cheers!

We used it as a counter in the '90s when mainstream media discovered
BBSes and their "dangerous" information posing a threat to "the
children". We countered that information isn't dangerous, the use of
said information was already codified as criminal if needed.

The Anarchist Cookbook is in the library of Congress, we said.

It's on the internet archive as well as the Library of Congress. :)
