We used it as a counter in the '90s when mainstream media discovered
BBSes and their "dangerous" information posing a threat to "the
children". We countered that information isn't dangerous, the use of
said information was already codified as criminal if needed.

The Anarchist Cookbook is in the library of Congress, we said.

Be clear that there are several versions of the AC, some which have had the formulas altered to thwart successful usage.

The alterations either "broke the formula," suggested use of specific chemicals that were subsequentially monitored for emerging threats, or introduced other traits.

The same thing happened with some of the make your own drugs underground books of the era.

In some countries possession of a copy of the AC in the day was considered a crime, and you would end up in jail.

Realizing the AC was never going to go away was the reason tainted formulas were introduced.
