Suspicions about the data-processing operating costs, govt subsidies and the specifics of the "user container system" Twitter operates to categorize accounts under the false financial justification of managing simultaneous user data processing demand, looks like it is going to be publicly confirmed very soon.

The groupings of the user accounts into specifically tagged containers are the root of the Twitter engagement disparity that people have wondered about for years.

I would argue that all social media platforms are orwellian in nature. It is possible for any social media platform to be scraped for data on a given user, especially if the user reveals their identity to the platform. Pseudonyms can also be backtraced to a given user, especially if the pseudonym is used commonly by that user.

I myself don't post anything on social media that I wouldn't say in public, but even that will give insights into the persons thoughts, beliefs, plans, and ideas. If you are going to post on a social media platform, be very selective about what you are going to say.

I don't really buy the whole "we support free speech" narratives that platforms like parler and Gab advertise. Even Gab has limits on speech (you can't call for violence for example).

What I find really amusing is all of the lefties and journalists abandoning Twitter for Mastodon.

"Oh no, we're worried there's going to be too many right-wing people coming back to Twitter! Let's go to where all the right-wing people went when they were kicked off of Twitter."

I'm not a Nazi/Antisemite/any of that, but there was a certain amount of schadenfrude watching the journalists get piled on by that crowd as soon as they made their intros.
