When the internet algorithms decide to shadow-ban a website as side effect can be that the Spam directed at that website also disappears.
Observed a website that historically had several thousand Spam comments posted in any given week get demoted by the algorithms and as a result Spam dropped to single Spam comments per month!
Incoming Spam either makes it through, requiring hand removal is allowed to post, but usually ends up in a to-approve queue, or it is intercepted by the industrial strength anti-Spam filter.
At one point last year the website appeared to be shadow-banned as searching for it wouldn't produce results. This obviously trimmed the traffic down to mostly those who have subscribed to an RSS stream feed.
And the Spam also dropped, but by a stunning 99.96%
