    I've heard that there is a way to detect when things are about to go Fouled Beyond All Recognition. There are random number generating machines. They are placed around the world in shielded and secure facilities. When things are about to go really bad the machines will begin to depart from being random and become very non-random. The non-randomness is an indicator of the collective psyche, regarding what is about to happen. This appears to happen before the actual event, not just during it. Whether this is true or not I'm not absolutely certain, but it is something of value to research.

    I have heard of this study myself and its very interesting. Not all of it was around disaster though some was just the combined thinking. For instance when several people are praying at the same time (bed time) for instance. This causes random numbers to start sharing values across segregated systems. Would like to hear more about this.
