Before Star Trek Discovery there was rumor of a temporal cold war. The idea behind this was that people were using spiritual forces to view events outside of their local time line. LOKI also had the same theme. So physically going back in time would be extremely and profoundly difficult, However, using spiritual forces to bridge the time line from one time to the next would be relatively easy. Spirits are not all bound by existing in one single time, but can travel from place to place and time to time. Spirits can sometimes be just as living as you or me, just without a body. They are spiritual life, we are physical life. We are bound by our physical bodies, whereas they are without physical bodies. The Holy Bible specifically and unequivocally forbids communing with spirits, and it would not do this if spirits did not exist. When Jesus was walking on water to the boat that his disciples were in and they yelled in fear, "spirit, spirit," they thought that Jesus was some sort of spirit. Jesus said clearly that spirits have no body as he had one. So there is a Biblical basis for understanding the existence of spirits being without bodies, yet still existing.

Imagine the power of someone being able to communicate with entities who are not bound by time or location or form... they would either be able to alter the timeline or see how it plays out and watch it happen, knowing what will take place. It may be extremely frustrating that they couldn't do anything about the bad timeline, or it may be very rewarding being able to step into our time and prevent catastrophes from happening or at least alter the timeline to lessen the disasters that were known to come.

Now, let's assume that this power exists. What would happen if different camps had this capability... there could exist a temporal cold war between factions possessing this tech. Both of those, or several of those---depending on how many factions there were---would have different agendas, working against one another, and all of those factions being apart from the will of God. It would be a full-on cluster frack.
