What do you think about the claim that Covid was spread artificially from laboratories to maintain infection rates?

Roman - likely more than just maintaining rates.

Early on there were suggestions that "less harmful" variants were being released as sort of a wide-area vaxination process.

There were also suggestions that simultaneous releases of engineered variants in geographically widespread locations was statistically unlikely to happen as it did without assistance.

Was their a Covid war between factions?

I haven't read such information anywhere. But I'm not surprised, because many news projects with which I began the review of these disturbing events have simply closed or are not updated. They seemed to have disappeared into nowhere. It was clear from the very beginning that there was something wrong with this virus.

Most likely, through mutation, a more contagious, less virulent strain
elbowed out the others. At one point, delta and omicron strains were in the wild, but more people caught omicron, which increased the spread, and so
    on.

Thankfully, that's the way of things. I got what felt like Omicron in
2022- a high fever, slight shortness of breath, headache and sore throat instead of resiratory distress. I was mostly OK after a few days.
Friends of mine who'd gotten earlier strains weren't so lucky.

... Change nothing and continue consistently

I'm a very big skeptic. I cannot confirm any information from independent sources. Neither about supposedly random mutations, nor about the fact that we were really dealing with a specific virus. Therefore, I cannot directly state that what arranged (happened) was the scenario of events that you wrote about. This is still a topic for discussion. How can we verify the information that was sold to us as "objective".
