• A Gentleman And a Scholar

A rather new saying in the Intelligence Community's lexicon of spook talk to common talk is the phrase "a gentleman and a scholar." This refers to someone who is both or either sophisticated and/or someone who would write books about their experience in the IC. You really don't want to be known as someone who is a scholar as that means that you would write books or articles about your experiences in the Intelligence Community. The short form for "a gentleman and a scholar" works out to G.A.S., which means that if you were to go public you'd be gassed to death for your improprieties. You do NOT want to be called a gentleman and a scholar. You really don't. Being called such marks you as a fool who would reveal secrets. Totally not what you want to be known as/

    You have been warned.

    Cheers!

The war of incriminating evidences and leaks between the opposing sides has reached such an intensity that there is no need for this. It is enough to simply study opposing open sources of information in order to have an idea of the goals of this battle. At the same time, as the experience of Edward Snowden and Julian Assange has shown, leaks of information and compromising evidence have almost no effect on anything at all. Most people are simply indifferent to what is happening. After all, they live for the social hype. And no one is interested in serious information leaks.

that's true. for regular day-to-day consumer it was just a breaking news to assess the level of info hype for a day or two, but nothing meaningful came after. Easily managed.
