Satellite imagery for the civilian population is now available with the resolution of 12 inches. A 12 inch resolution means that if an item is 12 inches in length or diameter it can be seen to be what it is. So a cobble stone walkway can be identified as long as it takes a foot in measurement. It has been rumored that the actual civilian satellite resolutions is as small as eight inches. Likely, both one foot and eight inch can both be taken from the same satellites, only having the lesser size resolutions restricted to the armed forces market. With military grade spy satellites being used to produce imagery to the civilian market, one can come up with multitudes of uses, both good and malevolent uses of this technology. It reminds me of a saying "the children have now got the matches," or otherwise put "the patients are in control of the asylum," or otherwise put: the present day civilian satellites are on par with the military satellites of yesterday. What the agencies would pay millions for several decades ago can now me purchased for a few hundred dollars from commercial sources. There is currently a move from internal employees to outsourced contractors. The contractors make around four times what normal employees make, and its a revolving door from Agency employee to Contract outsourced employee. So its a natural progression to contract work after being in the Agency for some time. When employees move from internal to external employment some of their knowledge comes with them. So those advancements come with the transportation of knowledge to the civilian sector from the security intelligence employment of the three letter agencies.

    Cheers!
