I purchased two Roland AIRA VT-2's and found that they can indeed change the sound of your voice, however the voice audio produced was non-realistic; you could tell that you were listening to a voice that had been modified. There is a new generation in voice transformers called the Roland AIRA VT-3, or I could be mistaken having bought the AIRA version 3 and the latest version 4. My version had touches of green whereas the latest is all black. It had many functions to it that would be great for DJ'ing or other commercial, non-security essential purposes, but when you're dealing with life and death where a modified voice is esential, I would not recommend The Roland Voice Transformer Black and Green version. I'd love to say it worked perfectly, and it sure looks sweet, but it does not perform as I wish it would. If you are looking for something to mask your voice completely the VT would work wonders, however to change your voice from male to female or female to male, its not quite at the level I would pay for again. I run the TexTalk.news podcast and wanted to invite people to the show to describe their experiences in The Scene, and I was going to use the Voice Transformers (yes, I bought two of them), to allow people to join the podcast anonymously, but that didn't quite work out. Granted the AIRA VT series is way better than the kids kit that's out there, as the AIRA VT's cost around $250 USD brand new. I know of no better kit than the AIRA series, but the best that I have found is not good enough. If anyone knows of a system that performs properly, actually desgiusing the voice into the opposite gender's voice please let me know as I'd like to check it out.
Cheers!
