It's "working as intented." Its part of the plan. Ignorance is optional nowdays (more than ever). People are conditioned to be lazy, so they would rather choose the path of least resistance. Its easier AND convenient!

I've noticed that trend also. People like simplicity, they don't like figuring things out, they like to fit in with others, they're not inquisitive, and none of that is natural; something made them that way, and it might cost them their lives someday.
