It is 1941 and Germany has won the war. Britain is occupied, Churchill executed, and the King imprisoned in the Tower of London. At Scotland Yard, Detective Inspector Archer tries to do his job and keep his head down. But when a body is found in a Mayfair flat, what at first appears
to be a routine murder investigation sends him into a world of
espionage, deceit, and betrayal. --- SBBSecho 3.20-Linux
SS-GB was my first exposure to speculative fiction when it came out.
Great book.
My father used to take the train to work, and he'd pore through 1-2
books a week on the ride. I always remember him reading a spy thriller
or SF paperback, but I wasn't sure what he did with them when he was
done; I think my mom donated them to the local hospital where she
worked.
The two books I remember reading from his stack of books were SS-GB and
DUNE.
