    Hawking likens our encounter with aliens to that of the Native Americans meeting Christopher Columbus, "it didn't turn out so well [for the natives].". Hawking has warned that if an alien civilisation can pick up our signals, they might have the potential to be billions of years more advanced than humans, making us soft targets for an invasion.

    Good point. Having said that though,.. some believe aliens have visited and walk among us. Why haven't they invaded thus far?

    It is a scary thought but very much true. If you look at the possiblity of possible colonisation. On the other hand: If you take into consideration they have the technology to actually reach us, what the hell do they need us for. (Maybe except for natural resources).

    I'm guessing they know we use nukes and despite what Hollywood would have you believe they are probably dangerous to everything. They would know we are a violent race and might want to make sure to meet in space instead of here where we would damage ourselves as well.
