I ran a single-node dial-up board on Oblivion/2 in the 90s. One phone line, one caller at a time. In 2010 I put a few doors on telnet with Rick Parrish's GameSrv, then the board went quiet for years.
Last year I found Jeffry Walsh's RetroTerm, which calls boards from a browser, and it made me want to run doors again. This time you can click most doors and start playing. No login, no new user form, so people who never dialed a BBS can try them too. I built a new server on GameSrv's design and brought the doors back one at a time.
It's a BBS with its own software, not a web front end for Synchronet or another BBS package. Most doors are the original programs running on the board. Your browser just shows the screen and sends your keys. ANSI uses the VGA font and palette. RIP doors are drawn by my fork of Carl Gorringe's RIPtermJS, set per door to RIPTerm 1.54 or 2.30.
There are 250+ doors, LORD and Trade Wars 2002 among them: DOS, Windows and Linux stuff, Atari ST games, and an Image BBS 3.0 on an emulated C64. The MUDs keep going when nobody's on. The board is on fsxNet as 21:3/258, and some doors play InterBBS in X-League 777 and Medusa 015.

Web only, no telnet or SSH. Most doors work as a guest, but guest saves are thrown out when you leave. A free account is a nickname and a PIN, no email. You need one for the MUDs and the league games.
If you played any of these back in the day and something looks off, let me know.
Edit: Thanks, everyone, for trying it and for the comments. I've been fixing things as people find them, so if something didn't work for you, please give it another try. submitted by /u/Snowblind350 [link] [comments]
