I've spent most of the year researching what the internet pre web like and one of the topics I've focused on is what compuserve was like when it was text only, before the manager clients came out. I also want to help someone out with building a replacement server for the text only compuserve, with eventual support for the graphical user interfaces. I know what the interface looks like from looking through a demo disk for the trs 80 as well as an old tape of someone signing in on their ti 99 4 a. The problem is, I don't know anything about programming, yet I know most of these bbs software thingies won't work because it has to be text only and fit perfectly on a 40 column display, but most bbs software I can find assumes the user has an 80 column terminal.
