• An old SysOp checking in

I'm….astounded to have found this subreddit. This brings back lots of memories of my younger days.
In case anybody would even remember. I'm Codo and I was a SysOp of two different BBSs in Indianapolis in the early 90s. The Ultimate BBS (Yeah, sooooo, when I was 17 I didn't really have a good naming sense) and The Cape of Lost Hope.
Man I wish I could remember my opening text I had for logging into the Cape of Lost Hope. I had written a couple of paragraphs. It was basically about being shipwrecked and waking up and seeing a sign that said ‘Welcome to the Cape of Lost Hope'
So I ran my systems originally on an Apple //gs running ACOS BBS. And later when I migrated to a DOS based system, I was running Wildcat.
My best memories of having been a SysOp is that I have 3 real world friends that I still keep in contact with (2 very regularly and 1 infrequently) that I met while running my BBS. submitted by /u/MysteriousCodo [link] [comments]
