Modern BBS terminals - what do current ones still get wrong?
From BBS (/u/WearExact1049https://www.reddit.com/user/WearExact1049) to All on Wed Dec 31 17:04:27 2025
I've been thinking a lot about classic BBS terminal behavior lately - ANSI handling, CP437 quirks, Telnet workflows, file transfers, etc.
For those who still use BBSes or have in the past:
- What things do modern terminal emulators still get wrong?
- What behaviors or details matter more than people expect?
- Are there features you miss from older terminals that newer ones overlook? I'm especially curious from sysops and long-time BBS users, but anyone with terminal experience is welcome to chime in. I'm trying to understand priorities before committing too deeply in one direction. submitted by /u/WearExact1049 [link] [comments]
