Display issue! I'm new and need some help! (Linux Mint|KDE Plasma:X11|syncterm)

So I have the program installed, but anytime I connect to this particular BBS, I can't see anything unless I highlight it all with my cursor. I've wasted quite a few hours changing special window settings, special application settings, application style, and every setting I could find in syncterm itself but nothing fixes it. I really don't want to have to constantly highlight everything with my cursor just to see anything... I did manage to make syncterm run within the terminal window itself instead of a separate window by accident, many of the characters wouldn't display properly but I at least didn't have to highlight everything.
