LONDON (Reuters)- The U.S. held a top-secret investigation into Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) after World War II and found the bodies
of four humanoids from a crashed flying saucer, according to Britain's leading UFO expert.
The Observer newpaper yesterday quoted UFO researcher Timothy Good as saying a U.S. Government committee code-named "Majestic-12" exami
ned and then covered up news of UFO crashes in the late 1940's.
According to Good's book "Above Top Secret: The Worldwide UFO Cover-Up," to be published in July, the MJ-12 committee was set up by Pre
sident Harry Truman to check reports of unidentified aircraft sighted in the U.S.
Following a report from a local farmer, the committee launched a search for a crashed UFO in a remote area of New Mexico in 1947.
They found the bodies of four humanoid creatures, Good said.
Good quoted from a briefing paper prepared by then-CIA head Roscoe Hillenkoeter for Truman's successor, President Dwight Eisenhower.
"Four small human-like beings had apparently ejected from the craft at some point before it exploded," the document said.
The Observer said it had seen the briefing paper but inquiries to several U.S. archives had failed to authenticate it.

I have enjoyed his books and view them as entertainment, probably with some elements of truth, but more as examples of UFO mythology -- alien bases, government conspiracies, aliens from certain star clusters who lived in an underground bunker and liked strawberry ice cream, etc.

I would suggest spending time with the two classic works by J. Allen Hynek -- The UFO Experience and the Hynek UFO Report. While less sensational, the sighting reports from the Air Force files, often in the witnesses own words, pack a different and deeper punch.

Leslie Kean's UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record. Likewise -- chapters written by these experienced and high ranking people about the phenomena as it really is: a genuine mystery, often astounding in nature, but lacking the "answers" that Timothy Good provides (like the unnamed government informant who claims that the aliens are reptilian from a planet in the zeta reticuli star cluster and planted Jesus here 2000 years ago as a social-religious experiment -- kind of combined some of his themes there!)

Then there are classics like The Incident at Exeter and The Interrupted Journey, both by John Fuller, that are based on his own research and interviews.

Finally, I'd recommend Michael Swords and Robert Powell's UFOd and Government -- an in depth history of the US governments awareness and dealings with the phenomena, all using cited and sourced documents, letters, and other materials.

I have always enjoyed Good, but as entertainment, like I said -- even if there are some truth in there. But the well-written and well-researched classics pack a sensational punch all their own -- fewer "answers," but with a much clearer view of the reality of the mystery. And how astounding the really good UFO sighting reports are.
