    CISA and the Group of Seven (G7) international partners=E2=80=94Germany, Ca= nada, France, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the European Union=E2= =80=94have released joint guidance, Software Bill of Materials for AI =E2= =80=93 Minimum Elements [ https://www.cisa.gov/resources-tools/resources/so= ftware-bill-materials-ai-minimum-elements ], to help public and private sec= tor stakeholders improve transparency in their artificial intelligence (AI)=
    systems and supply chains.

    A software bill of materials [ https://www.cisa.gov/topics/information-comm= unications-technology-supply-chain-security/sbom ] (SBOM) acts as an =E2=80= =9Cingredients list=E2=80=9D for software that better positions organizatio=
    ns to understand their supply chains and make risk-informed decisions about=
    how to protect their critical systems.

    The guidance builds on CISA=E2=80=99s previous work with federal and intern= ational partners to establish a shared vision for a software bill of materi= als [ https://www.cisa.gov/resources-tools/resources/shared-vision-software= -bill-materials-sbom-cybersecurity ] and provides recommendations on minimu=
    m elements that should be included in an SBOM for AI. Because AI systems ar=
    e software systems, these recommendations should be considered in addition =
    to the general minimum elements for an SBOM [ https://www.cisa.gov/resource= s-tools/resources/2025-minimum-elements-software-bill-materials-sbom ].

    While not exhaustive or mandatory, the supplemental minimal elements outlin=
    ed in this guidance reflect the consensus of G7 experts and will expand ove=
    r time to keep pace with the rapid advancement of AI technology.
