Who all has run their own personal online radio station, and which software package do/did you use?

I have run several different ones over the years, and prefer to use SAM2.

I haven't done the full live radio thing, but I've used Shoutcast or Icecast to do the streaming side.

I have run several different ones over the years, and prefer to use SAM2.

I run a radio station (Neon Arcade '86) and ended up sticking with Icecast for streaming . Currently using foobar for the playlist manager.

I like Icecast because the radio stream will show up as a streaming radio station in VLC player, Kodi, Clementine, and in online games like second life. I've never logged into second life, but I see listeners from there every now and again.

The radio website is http://radio.asirta.com

I've turned the streaming off, but will have it back on later this year... The website is still being updated weekly through the retro tucson youtube channel.

I used a hacked copy of SAM2 once and really liked it, but I tried to get away from using unlicensed software as I got older to deleted it. I liked Live365 in its day. Not only did they provide storage but they dealt with all the licensing of the music too. There's a service out there similar but it's way more expensive. It's not financially feasable for a single home user to run a legitimate radio station without incuring some heavy costs.

I used to get my fix by DJing on a Sunday night at the local privately owned radio station. I did a couple of hours called "The British Invasion" from 9-11pm then "The Last Hour" until midnight playing whatever. It was an oldies station but they changed to Americana and I don't do country type 'music'. :)
