I am currently using a Roland Cube 20x. I am interestd in the new Spark amp and app that uses you phone to set different tones. Just not ready to fork out $200 something bucks. Just got finished with my Les Real Custum.
No. Just a Cube 20x amp. The Spark has an app that goes through your phone to make the different tones. I believe you can do it without the Spark amp. I've looked at a couple like Bias Fx, and they get expensive real fast. I was wanting something that goes through the amp, because I run Linux and those programs don't like linux.
What features does the Cube 20x have?

It has different built in tones, such as Tube drive, Metal stack, Metal, Distortion, Overdrive and Accoustic.
You were talking about computer programs and linux. Have you heard about Guitarix Virtual Amplifier? Just saw a tutorial on HowtoForge. Going to try it out this weekend.

Yea I also run Linux. There's no where near the selection of software available for Linux there is for Windows. I'm hoping that changes in the vary near future.

Nice! I'm looking for something like that to fool around with. I'm going to put the Cube 20X on my list. Thanks

Do you know if Linux supports (or even needs) lower-latency sound drivers (similar to ASIO sound drivers for Windows) for music recording?
Since you say you're moving away from Windows, I doubt this will help, but I've messed with the amp simulations in Mixcraft (music recording software for Windows).
That's the thing if you're into music, it seems there isn't much music recording software, amp sim software, etc. for Linux. I think most people who record music on their computer probably use Windows or Mac (Mac seems particularly popular for people doing creative work), so the market probably isn't really there for Linux music recording software.

I've fooled with Mixcraft on my old Windows machine. I think my son uses it so I had to check it out. I guess it was a demo? Anyway I thought it had too many options for my needs. I liked Amplitudes presets and found it easy to find the tone I liked. I prefer playing out of my Fender amp anyway. I'm content with just a little reverb. By the time I'm done fooling with all the tones on the software simulators 2 hours have gone by and I don't have any time to acutally play the darn guitar. It's amazing what can be done on a PC these days.
Yeah, it is amazing. Mixcraft does have a lot of options, but I don't mind. I had previously played around with Garage Band on Mac computers, but since I don't have a Mac, I was looking for something similar on Windows, and someone recommended Mixcraft.

Do you have a Guitar Center near you? The one near me is huge. You can demo anything you want. I can spend the entire day there. I haven't been
had 7 guitars. All from Guitar Center. I don't think he understands most Guitars are made in China and can be purchased a lot cheaper online. ;-)

It really depends on the brand & model. I think a lot of the less expensive models are made in China, but it still depends on the brand. I think Fender's Squier brand is made either in Korea or China. I'm sure some other cheaper ones are too. But the Fender American series Strats are China or elsewhere), and I'm sure Gibson's Amercian series are made in the
Yes. I know about American Gibson. When I said China I should have said Asia. I think the cheapest American Gibson Guitar starts a $1200.00. I don't know anyone willing to pay that much for a Guitar. Those prices are
2 of my guitars are US made and cost a little bit more than that. :P One of them is a "partscaster" - I had a custom Strat body made by Warmoth in the color I wanted and got a specific Fender neck, and also bought some
Nice! Do you have a Les Paul? That's my "dream guitar". ;-)

Nope. I'm more of a Strat player. I tried a Les Paul once but couldn't really get into it. I bought the Les Paul from Guitar Center, and after about a week of playing it at home, I didn't really feel like it was for me and returned it under their 30-day(?) return policy.

I have a Custum Les Real. Build your own. I now have a '59 copy for less than a fourth of the price of a new GLP.

How much did it weigh? Did it feel heavy to you?
