• Diabetes Therapy Option

From Mike Dippel@999:1/1 to All on Mon Oct 28 12:49:44 2024
I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes years ago and I also had both sections of Thyroid
removed due to cancer.. I moved to the Tampa area 9 years ago and could not find an
    endocrinologist in my area.

I did a Google search for endocrinologist in the area and came across a Diabetes Relief
Center that does a specific type of treatment.

The treatment consists of a 2 hour controlled infusion of insulin that is meant to get your
pancreas to remember how to produce its own insulin. I have been doing this since mid
January and it seems to be working for me.

The treatment is called Physiologic Insulin Resensitization or PIR for short.

If you suffer from diabetes and are looking for an alternative treatment to combat it, you
might do a search for PIR in your area. It works for me.

I've never heard of it. My mother passed away before the CGM became common place. She had to stick herself for years. Died of heart attack. Her diabetes, led to coranary heart disease, which probably caused her heart attak.

Thanks for sharing this new thearpy. I'm like borderline , and just tarted taking Jardiance to help lower my A1C. I hope I an stay way from it. It did horrible things to my mother, and my wife had it also . But due to bariatric surgery she no longer needs to take insulin :-)

Well, I am glad for the good news about your wife! Sorry about your mother, though.

This is another reason why I am into genealogy. Knowing the medical history of your
ancestors helps you realize the possibilities for your own health. Cancer runs rampant in
the Dippel ancestry, so it is a concern for me as well. I have had bouts with cancer
myself, but I am very diligent about seeking medical help.

I have my problems, but am fairly well off health wise at age 75.

Would you mind discussing your wife's journey with bariatric surgery? I'm considering it , and my wife has done it
twice. Had a gastric bypass that didn't work well, and did a revision to a biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch.
It has let to a number of issues unfortunately, just got out of hospital with low potassium, a 2nd stroke this year at
sometime. They don't know when it occurred (in or out of hospital). And having to be put on TPN and that has triggered
high blood sugar, when she had become insulin indepedent after both the surgries.

I'm looking at the Single Anastomosis Duodeno-ileostomy with Sleeve (SADI-S), also known as SADI-S which is less
risky and newer but has good results also like DS.

Hope it has helped her. My wife has lost almost too much weight; as her body is not absorbing things as it should.
They were going to move the "limb" connection while she was in hospital; but have postponed it 30 days due to
    the stroke history.

Sorry. It must be someone else that posted that. My wife is due to get a knee
replacement soon, but no bariatric surgery.

I think maybe I replied to my on POST! :-(

I'm that overwhelmed right now. Sorry for the confusion generated.
