In lieu of doing a camping trip, we decided to take a 4 day car drive to The Villages,
    Florida.

We have friends that live there, and some that were travelling there to consider buying a
home, so this was the perfect time to do it.

The Villages covers most of 3 counties and has every amenity you could ever want.

Our trip included a 4 night stay in one of their model homes, coffee and tea, use of a
    golf cart, and great internet!

The golf cart ran on gas, not electric. This afforded us the opportunity to travel
extensively, at no cost to us. In the 4 days that we were there the cart only used a
minimal amount of fuel and we did a LOT of travelling.

We decided to look at homes there since the Realtor that we were in touch with expected us to do that. But we found that we get more for our money where we currently live than we would by moving there. Overall, the cost of the stay was minimal,
    and well worth the money.

We just arrived home today after having a great time. Having said that, I would never
want to move there. We live in a 'Del Webb' community in Sun City Center, Florida that
also has every amenity and is also a golf cart community, but just on a smaller scale
    that The Villages.

Our community known as 'Kings Point' was also recently voted the #1 55+ community in
the entire United States. We even have a company coming into Kings Point that wants
to do a series for A&E that talks about why it is number 1 and talk about our lifestyle.

We had a great time in The Villages, but we love where we live.

My parents have live there for the past 21 years. It was great when they first moved in. You had the original area north of 441, then Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter was the new area. They hadn't yet extended south of 466A. Traffic wasn't bad during the winter when the snow birds came down and it was even better in the spring/summer when they left.

Now, the place is just huge....and still growing. My mom wants to move from there because it's getting too crowded and most of their friends have either passed away or moved in with their kids (due to their age). Dad however, is done with moving. They are both in their mid 80's and just aren't as active as they once were. I tried to get them to consider moving about 10 years ago...but at this point they're just staying put. I think a move at this point would probably do one or both of them in.

Glad that you enjoyed your stay there, but I would agree that you're probably getting more for your money where you're at. AND, have less of a crowd that you have to deal with daily.

Thanks for your feedback! The one thing I took from staying there is that I might want
to switch from an electric to a gas golf cart. The range on them is fantastic. I still very
happy that I stayed there. It was -mostly- fun.
