Agreed, I can't remember the name of the Avian species, or the name of the Catian Lt from TAS.

I can't remember the name of the Avian species,...

There are severl avian species in the STU, but given the time period, it's most likely the Skorr.

...or the name of the Catian Lt from TAS.

    Lt. M'ress.

I'd have to rewatch it, thought it was in the background of the

Unlikely. The Gorn hate (and eat) warm-blooded species, and they were put in hibernation in a previous episode.

I haven't finished watching the season. What do you think about all those episodes, like the muppets one and the black and white?

I just finished the episode AFTER the er, muppet episode. I quite liked that one, with the neutrinos or whatever... although it's always funny to me that as long as the Main Cast didn't die, no one seems to care (except Scotty, lol). The red shirt tradition.

The muppet episode on the other hand... My wife walked in while I was watching it and she was like: oh, no. Then turned and left.

But hey, they can't all be winners. But this season has felt especially weak?

I remember reading before the season started that they wanted to push the envelope on the types of stories told. Well, I'd say they ripped it a new one, and not in a good way.

I had to jump to the next episode many times this season.

I thought season 4 was the end and thought they were wasting episodes
to get us to the beginning of TOS. Didn't realize there's a season 5
    coming along.

I felt like the muppet episodes and the soap opera episodes were a
    waste of valuable storytelling time.
