• CRS BBS — New BBS software in development (testers wanted)

From pgauthier@21:1/235 to All on Wed Apr 8 21:10:49 2026
    Hey everyone,

We've been working on something here at PhotoRM BBS that
we wanted to share with the community.

CRS BBS is a new BBS software we're building from scratch.
It's still early prototype stage, but here's what's working
    right now:

    - Telnet server (Linux/64)
    - Bilingual interface (French/English) built into the core
    - User accounts with language preference
    - Dynamic screen updates (clock ticking in real-time)
    - Lua scripting for door games
    - Our first door game: Tetris with real-time piece
movement and differential screen updates (~30 bytes
per frame, works at 9600 baud)

    What makes it different:
    - Bilingual from the ground up, not bolted on
    - Dynamic content (screen elements update without
    full redraws)
    - Lua scripting instead of MPL (modern, well-documented)
    - Configuration by YAML files (human readable)
    - Themes and menus as external files (like Mystic)

We're NOT trying to replace Mystic — we love Mystic and
    we're running it right now (1:229/114 / 21:1/235). This
is a side project born from wanting to experiment with
    dynamic content on a BBS.

    We're looking for:
    - Beta testers who'd be willing to try it and report bugs
    - An ANSI/ACiD artist who'd be interested in creating a
theme for the project (we're coders, not artists!)

If you're curious, the prototype is running on our board.
Drop us a line at dev@photorm.net or leave a message here.

No release date yet — it's a work in progress. But we
wanted to put it out there and see if anyone's interested.
