It's been mentioned what can you read in the Bible, it's often good to start with the Gospels, the life of Jesus. You can find these three books,
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in the beginning of the New Testament in the
Holy Bible, common ones are KJV and NIV. As for Prophecy, how can someone
know what's going to happen in the future? You can often get a feel of
current events and history tends to repeat itself. I can't say for certain though. Do any of you have the gift of prophecy? What do you think is going to happen in the next 20 years or so as far as where people are with Christ?
I feel it's going to get more generalized and more people are going to fall away from the love of God. I could be wrong, it could be the opposite. As
we have groups like ours that help people, we can help the Church grow and
    stay alive.

What I can say is that Prophecy is real. Second to Prophecy is the cheap imitation that is witchcraft, otherwise known as divination. The Church is meant to have no hint of divination in its membership or congregation. If a Prophet is amongst you how would you know that the person is a Prophet? It just might be that the stranger amongst you is a servant of the Most High (and only True) God and you didn't recognize him or her.

"The wind blows where it wishes and you do not know where it comes from or where it is going, such are those who are born of the Holy Spirit." (paraphrase)

    Prophecy is a mystery.
