    I realize I am going to get some flack for this, but here is my
    "re-imagining":

    C:\bbstools\t-rex\bin>trexconsole
    T-Rex FTN Mailer Win32/v0.3
    based on Internet Rex by Charles Cruden - Phase 3.0

    trex [-fetch [binkp|dir] [<address> ...]]
    [-send [binkp|dir] [<address> ...]]
    [-net <name>[,<name>...]] [-listen]
    [-daemon] [-event <tag>] [-trim] [-maint] [-tray]
    [-help | -notify [<address> ...]]
    [-cfg <path>] [-log <path>] [-q] [--version] [-?]

    With no options, the Free Vision build starts its text-mode shell;
    the console build (trexconsole) just prints this usage instead.
    Any of the options above run either build headless, no shell.
    Switch names may be abbreviated to whatever is unambiguous, e.g.
    -f for -fetch, -d for -daemon - same convention as Internet Rex.

    -fetch polls every configured network's uplink and accepts
    whatever it offers. -send additionally offers whatever is
    queued in that network's own OutboundDir.
    -net limits -fetch/-send/-listen to specific configured networks
    instead of all of them (see trexcfg -list-networks).
    -listen runs as an inbound BinkP server instead of polling out -
    accepts callers, checked against every configured
    network's session password (see the README). Runs until
    stopped (Ctrl+C) - it does not exit on its own.
    Configure a network first with: trexcfg -net <name> -set ...

    **********

    and prelim test results wih an actual host:

    C:\bbstools\t-rex\bin>trexconsole -fetch -send
    trex: [Default] polling bbs.winserver.com:24554 (offering 0 file(s))

    Very interesting. I have sort of gone the route of using the corresponding *nix tools like binkd (which, IIRC, there are also Windows and I am certain OS/2 builds for) but IREX could obviously do some additional things that maybe don't have an easy equivalent.

    I heard back from Charles in an email about this this morning and he
    wished me the best of luck on this project.
