Two people died last night in a crash on State Highway 1, near Kinleith,
south of Tokoroa.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 9pm.

"Sadly, two people were located deceased," a police spokesperson said.

Another person sustained serious injuries.

The serious crash unit has examined the scene, and inquiries into the circumstances of the crash were ongoing.

Last week, one person was killed and another hospitalised in a two-vehicle crash near Humphrey Rd, also near Kinleith.
