, yesI was expecting an
installer. Lol. I also have dos box and dosbox x. I understand how to run those for the local experience, but want to run them over the bbs for others to enjoy. Is this possible?

No, dosbox and its forks are not useful for running BBS doorgames.

well 'bbs dosbox' works pretty well. i've used it with some troublesome doorgames, too.

Cool. Care to provide a 'how-to' page for sysops that want to replicate that success?

The installer is packaged and released here: https://mendelson.org/ntvdmx64.html
You want to download/use the "CCPU verson".

it works well! thank you i can load dos games on my 64bit system now without dosbox. Its part of the operating system now. I like this. However, I am getting an error on one of the doors i am trying to launch through the bbs it reads 16 bit msdos subsystem. command prompt - planets /pc:/sbbs/node1 The system cannot open Com 1 port requested by the application. choose close to terminate. Is there something else I need to establish communication between the door and the bbs? sometimes I am seeing that it cannot find the door program even though i am quite specific as to where the game should find it. Any tips? I am trying to install Planets:The Exploration of Space to start with. Thank you

People have been doing it, maybe since 2004 or 2006.
Deuce had that bbs dosbox page and i zipped it and uploaded it to vert.
I thought the page was down but it's back up.

Not for multinode doors.
I don't think anyone's really still using dosbox for door games these days.
my first door installed and running it is called planets the exploration of space. Thank you for all the help. Now trying to track down the author to register it. Last updated 2001, lol will I find him?

Well, I've been waiting 3 minutes for the website to load and it won't..
If you have issue with it maybe do like everyone else does and use a keymaker :-)

Interesting.. I visited that site (Gameport) earlier today and it loaded for me.

I'm replying to your message using ecWeb. It automatically put

quoted it with the "Quote" button. Seems to work fine.

This is just a theory as I have not seen or used that web interface, but what if you accidentally move your cursor to the quoted area, pressed enter to go to a new line, and started typing there? I think I have seen message editors get confused like that and just keep adding >'s to newly typed lines.

Whoa! This is gonna blow some minds, and some pre-conceived notions.
Very complicated, too! Too difficult! ;-)

I am pretty sure he mentioned in another message that he is
visually impaired. I would not call myself impaired but I do
require some serious corrections. Sometimes I miss characters on
the web interface, especially the "runes" one. In SLMR, not so
much. ;)
