WHAT THIS ECHO IS FOR

The walk itself -- direction, decisions, and the next step.

This is the echo for the part nobody has a tidy answer to. Which way to
go. What to do about the thing you have been putting off. How to keep
going in a season that has gone quiet. What following actually looks
like on a Tuesday.

If you are newer to the faith, or coming back to it after a long time
away, this echo is especially for you. You will not be the only one
here who does not have it figured out.

"Show me your ways, Yahweh. Teach me your paths."

WHAT TO POST
------------

* A decision you are weighing, and what you are weighing it against.

* The season you are in -- clear, dry, uphill, or standing still.

* A habit or discipline that has actually helped you. Specifics
travel further than principles.

* A wrong turn you took, and how you found the road again. Somebody
reading is on that same road right now.

"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own
understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make
your paths straight."
-- Proverbs 3:5-6


ONE THING TO BE CAREFUL OF
--------------------------

Nobody in this echo gives anybody else their marching orders.

We can hold the lamp up. We can tell you what the road looked like
when we walked our own stretch of it. We can point you back to the
text. What we do not do is tell another person what God is saying to
them -- that voice is behind their ear, not ours.

"And when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left,
your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way.
Walk in it.'"
-- Isaiah 30:21

And where the road is already plain, it is worth saying so out loud:

"He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of
you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your
God?"
-- Micah 6:8

Much of what we call needing guidance turns out to be needing courage.

"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son,
cleanses us from all sin."
-- 1 John 1:7

That is why an echo like this works at all. Walking in the light is
what puts us in company with each other, one board to the next.
