Greetings Friends,

Psalm 46:1-3 says "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth may be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though it's waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with it's swelling." NKJV.

There are things in this world that seem timeless and unchanging. One of those things for me is Lake Michigan. I have lived in Sheboygan WI all my life, and grew up within 2 miles of the lake. Any time I needed to find peace or rest, I could ride my bike to the lake, and enjoy looking out over the water. I still do that to this very day - every morning before work I drive to Lake Michigan for a little quiet time. It's always been there my whole life.

But the truth is, the lake is not timeless or unchanging. It will pass away, along with everything else in this world. What I really seek when I go to Lake Michigan is The Creator. He is the only thing that is unchanging, unmoving, and alway present. I am the one who turns away, becomes distant, and gets distracted. The good news is - I can always return!! My God, and my lake, are always right where I know they will be. I can always find them whenever the cares of this world drag me down and become too much to take. -Hermmusic
