After the first paragraph, I went and looked for April 1 for the article
date, but was saddened to not find it...

Regardless, my name is Dennis, and I'm addicted to PHP...

;) I've managed to get myself off PHP somehow.. Perhaps Ruby or Python will be next for me for the web. :) One of my personal projects is done in PHP though.. hehe

I love php... Its very simple, lightweight and *very* powerful!

I have an app thats been running at 11 remote sites via satellite internet for 4 years now without failure. a batch file calls it every 20 seconds, it checks log files at remote sites for temp and pressure values, opens a mysql connection, and dumps the new data to a central database. The control room consoles have the webpage up in a window which updates every 5 minutes with bad ass graphs and other goodies for them to glance at...

The only time I've ever been called to 'fix' it was when there were other problems. The data acquisition devices failed, or the sat network went down. -+-

I agree, PHP is very powerful. I've enjoyed working with it, and there are some great products available that are written with it - vBulletin is one..
