I'm trying to get my hands on a CMD HDD .. anyone selling one by chance?
I have an almost unblemished C64C that I want to actually start using, but alas, I think I could get a CMD HDD cheaper than a 1581 drive lol
.. there are some ridiculous prices these days..

I don't but I can feel your pain. I miss the days when a working C64 would go for $5 on craigslist or ebay. Sometimes the appliances would be thrown in for free. Now, some of these devices' asking price are upwards of hundreds.

rnal with Multiplexer so I can program and test immediately without having to reboot and can make changes on the fly like I did back in the 80's and 90's...

It is something to think about...

If you can get in touch with him Jeff Jarian from Mytec sells Clone CMD HD's. He was getting in the area of about $400 for them. He used to sell them on eBay. Not sure he is still selling them though. If you are looking to run a BBS on it, my suggestion is run it in Vice Emulation. As nice as running a C64 BBS on real metal is, emulation you can build a ful blown fast BBS, I run my Image on a SCPU, CMD Ramlink/HD setup with a 38.4k Swiftlink. All emulation. I don't have to worry about my Commodore hardware going bad, or buying expensive 40 plus year old hardware for. I am running mine on a Proxmox Server but in the past just ran it on a $30 off lease Dell i3 computer. I also emulate full Lt Kernal with Multiplexer so I can program and test immediately without having to

Last price I saw on eBay for a CMD 20MB HDD with no JiffyDOS was like $1300
... it's just insane .. and no guarantees it will survive shipping..

Emulation just isn't the same .. altho things run faster, the added speed
    can cause problems ..

Hey NS, I looked into someone who can get a Clone drive, email me at bucko@wrgnbr.com and I will give you the email of a friend who has a ton of CMD clone stuff he might be willing to get rid of. Plus he can get in touch with Jeff Jarian (CMDR Krug or whatever his handle is) from eBay who sells the clones.. Let me know if you are interested. (I didn't want to post my guys email publically)..

... What do you mean, QWK? It took me over an hour to read!
