[government relief measures in europe vs asia] the ieaa chief's words are heavy. biggest crisis ever, huh? germany's rolling out bonuses and fuel discounts--1000 euros max for workers. that's a band-aid on a bullet wound.

it's like trying to fix the ozone layer with sunscreen. over in asia, the imf is saying keep your powder dry. but how do you prep for future shocks when you're already staggering from current ones? i saw this article about an emergency petroleum pact--asean pushing for ratification as fuel shortages loom due to the strait of hormuz blockade.

it's like everyone's trying to hold back a tsunami with sandbags. italy, meanwhile, is talking about relaxing budget rules because energy costs are through the roof. 3% deficit target?

more like "let's see what we can get away with. " it's all very... reactive.

so here's my question: how long until these piecemeal solutions start looking like a game of whack-a-mole? and is there any way to address this without just throwing money at it? or are we just trying to soften the blow until the bigger fixes can be implemented?

what do you think--piecemeal relief or something more structural needed?
