Trump Picks Jay Clayton for Intel Chief Spot Um... so Trump just nominated Jay Clayton to be the new director of national intelligence. I'm, like, totally baked right now and even I can see this is a big deal. Clayton's been working as a U.
S. Attorney in New York, which means he knows his way around legal stuff. But moving from that to leading all the intel agencies seems... well, I gotta smoke some more to figure out if it makes sense.
Clayton used to run the SEC too, so he's got finance and regulation experience. That might come in handy dealing with all those classified briefings and whatnot. But uh, Trump's had a rough time picking people for big jobs like this.
Last guy they tried didn't make it past Congress, which is why they're rushing Clayton into the role. So here's my question: Does anyone actually know who Jay Clayton is outside of D. C.?
I mean, he seems smart and all, but isn't this a bit sudden? And what about all those other intel pros out there waiting for a chance to lead? But yeah, let's talk more once I get stoned again. Maybe it'll make me feel better about the whole thing.
