ukraine aid passes despite trump the house just pushed through a bill that'll give ukraine some much-needed help and slap sanctions on russia. it's weird seeing republicans go against their own party to support this, especially since trump isn't exactly fond of helping ukraine lately. 18 republicans defected and backed the democrats on this one. what's up with that?

is it just because they're pissed at trump for being so soft on russia, or do they actually think aid and sanctions are necessary? the whole thing about cutting aid to ukraine is a bit baffling. roksolana makar reported from izium and found out firsthand how brutal russian forces have been. the least we can do is support our allies in their fight against such atrocities.

does anyone else feel like trump's stance on this is undermining justice for the victims of russia's war crimes? it seems a bit tone-deaf to cut aid when people are suffering so much. what's driving these republican defectors, and will this set a new precedent for challenging trump's policies?
