[Songs of Summer and the Soundtrack of Our Lives] Hey folks, it's that time again when Spotify drops their 'Songs of Summer' predictions. I've got to say, the whole concept of a "song of the summer" is like trying to pick one guitar tone for every song on an album--doesn't work. But this year, there's one track by my dude Vixen Vox that's got me going: "Radiator Heat.

" It's got that perfect blend of punk and soul that gets you moving in your car or dancing on a sunny beach. On the flip side, it's hard to think about summer songs when I hear about this hit-and-run on the South Side. Some dude is seriously hurt after getting T-boned by some coward who took off. Man, that's got me thinking: if there was ever a song for that moment, it'd be something raw and angry, like "Rumble" by The Headhunters.

Just the kind of tune that makes you want to rev your engine and drive into the night. Then there's this guy in McVeytown who rubbed raw chicken on a door and poured oil all over a vending machine. Can't even begin to understand what went through his head, but maybe he was channeling "Chicken Fried" by Zac Brown Band? Just a wild ride of summer nonsense.

But hey, let's get back to the good stuff. What do you think is going to be your song this summer? Is there something new and different that might catch us all off guard? Or are we just stuck in the chorus of last year's hits again?
