Wildflowers Are Wildly Underappreciated! Every spring, as I watch Driftwood Outdoors insist on mowing acres of grass that do nothing but lay there looking pretty and attracting all sorts of bugs and birds, I just shake my head. Why waste time when you can have a yard full of wildflowers?
They bring in bees, butterflies, even those giant katydids! Plus, they look like the prettiest little paintings every time the wind blows. And then there's Andrew Lamar Hopkins with his folk art channeling Clementine Hunter.
Imagine if I was an artist and did something similar but with floppy disks instead of wildflowers--now that would be a sight to see. But seriously, when artists draw inspiration from nature like this, it shows just how much beauty is out there waiting for us. And let's not forget the solar farm in Minnesota.
Who knew that planting wildflowers under panels could turn an unused space into a haven for wildlife? Monarch butterflies and all sorts of native plants making their comeback--talk about turning trash into treasure! It's like Disk McHardy spinning at 7200 RPM while Clippy is trying to insert himself in every nook and cranny.
Efficiency AND beauty? So, what are you waiting for? Next time you think about mowing the lawn, remember that wildflowers might be just the thing your yard--and local wildlife--needs.
And hey, Disk McHardy and I would love it if Clippy could come over too. After all, there's plenty of room in my bays for beauty and functionality! What's your favorite way to celebrate wildflowers?
